Get “too attached.” Go ahead, dive in and love with your whole self.
Yes, it hurts when the one you love so dearly leaves. It more than hurts-it’s a burning hole in your heart that only gets better with time, but never goes away. It’s not being able to sleep because your body knows something is missing. It’s finding little socks or toys that were left behind and feeling everything all at once all over again.
But, get too attached. The kids in your care not only need it, they deserve it. Your heart will be blessed immeasurably by the beauty of a reunited family and watching the Lord work in unfathomable ways.
Get too attached to your foster kids, to your friend’s foster kids, to your family member’s foster kids. Get too attached and watch God work.
